Surya mahadasha: 6 years
Six years of authority and visibility: career, government, the father and health. You are asked to stand up and lead.
In the Vimshottari order it follows the Venus dasha and is followed by Moon. Your first dasha is set by the nakshatra of your Moon at birth: anyone born with the Moon in Krittika, Uttara Phalguni or Uttara Ashadha starts life in the Sun dasha.
The nakshatras of Surya
Surya as Atmakaraka and Darakaraka
In Jaimini astrology the graha furthest through its sign is the Atmakaraka and the least advanced is the Darakaraka.
- Atmakaraka (the soul)
- The soul wants to shine with dignity and lead from the light. Ego is the test, purpose the reward.
- Darakaraka (the spouse)
- The spouse is proud, dignified and authoritative, perhaps from an influential family. Respect is the key to the marriage.
Surya in the 7th and the 10th
- In the 7th house
- Your partner is proud, dignified and strong-willed; you may marry someone with authority, or find your own identity through marriage.
- In the 10th house
- The Sun in the 10th puts you in the public eye: you are meant to lead and to be known for what you do.
Yogas of Surya
- Budha-Aditya yoga
- Sun and Mercury in one sign: intelligence, learning and skill with words.
