Guru mahadasha: 16 years
Sixteen years of growth and blessing: learning, teachers, children, faith, wealth and good counsel.
In the Vimshottari order it follows the Rahu dasha and is followed by Saturn. Your first dasha is set by the nakshatra of your Moon at birth: anyone born with the Moon in Punarvasu, Vishakha or Purva Bhadrapada starts life in the Jupiter dasha.
The nakshatras of Guru
Guru as Atmakaraka and Darakaraka
In Jaimini astrology the graha furthest through its sign is the Atmakaraka and the least advanced is the Darakaraka.
- Atmakaraka (the soul)
- The soul wants wisdom, children and dharma. The test is to teach without pride.
- Darakaraka (the spouse)
- The spouse is wise, generous, religious or learned: a guide and a blessing.
Guru in the 7th and the 10th
- In the 7th house
- A wise, generous, often learned or religious partner, sometimes older. Marriage brings growth, luck and protection.
- In the 10th house
- Jupiter in the 10th is one of the luckiest marks for a career: respect, growth and a name that grows with time.
Yogas of Guru
- Gaja Kesari yoga
- Jupiter in a kendra from the Moon: wisdom, good name, protection and lasting respect.
- Hamsa yoga
- Jupiter strong in a kendra: wisdom, virtue and respect (a Pancha Mahapurusha yoga).
